Daybreak

Lord, I dare not begin the day
or greet the golden dawn
except on bended knee I pray
and seek thy face each morn.

One dare not take a step alone
or trust one's wits an' ways
or leave the fire, hearth or home
before one bows and prays

Alone at best I'm blind an' weak
and sure to lose my way
but if in prayer thy face I seek
I'll know where to go,
and what to say
